In the Basque country you will find some of the best preserved medieval villages in Spain that will transport you from the 9th until the 15th Century. This region along with Asturias, escaped from the Moorish occupation and it was from here that the ‘Reconquest’, lead by the Legendary Pelayo, began back in 1718. A land of Fortress and Castles that became a modern nation. History and spectacular scenery is what you will find throughout.
Nowadays San Sebastian is best known for its gastronomy, so if you are passionate about gourmet experiences this is the best choice for a private ‘Pintxos’ (tapas) cooking class, a tasting at award winning Txakoli vineyards or dinner at the 3 Michelin starred restaurant (San Sebastian is home to more Michelin-starred restaurants per capita than any other city in the world).
